FREMONT, CA: Microsoft announces the availability of Cloud Foundry on Azure after it started providing Azure support for Cloud Foundry earlier this year to contribute and collaborate with the open source ecosystem, reports Gavin Clarke for The Register. Cloud Foundry is an open source cloud computing platform-a–service (PaaS) that simplifies the process to build, test, deploy and scale cloud applications from different languages.

Developers will now be able to have a consistent Cloud Foundry experience in Azure along with an easier workflow management through the Azure Resource Manager templates. The Azure Cloud Provider Interface (CPI) is now merged with the open source Cloud Foundry repository with capabilities such as Azure CPI to provision and manage VMs for Cloud Foundry, provision resources required for BOSH and Cloud Foundry through Azure Resource Manager template, support for all standard Cloud Foundry features and support for service broker integration.

“The GA of Cloud Foundry on Azure is a major milestone for both the open source community and our enterprise customers,” says James Watters, VP and General Manager, Cloud Platform Group, Pivotal.
