Video usage inside the enterprise environments has dramatically increased over the last five years, but after COVID-19, it has skyrocketed. The question arises—“When your team finally heads back to the office, is your network ready to handle this dramatic increase in traffic? Did you learn key components about your live video events such as video reach, video quality, and the level of employee engagement among others?”

The answer can be a big curveball, as one of the biggest challenges still for IT and corporate communications professionals is figuring out if the video communications from their executives are getting transmitted adequately to a global workforce. And also, if the employees are engaged and what can be learned from detailed analytics and smart reporting. That’s where Hive Streaming can help.

Hive Streaming’s software-based video distribution solution utilizes the bandwidth already provisioned within enterprises to deliver high-quality video streaming. Instead of everyone getting their own video stream, the company utilizes its peer-based technology to enable viewers within the same site, or network segment, to effectively view the same stream. Further, the company also provides an insightful, clear, and customizable reporting platform, Hive Insights, and its browser-based video delivery option, Hive WebRTC, that works at par with the traditional Hive Solution. “Microsoft 365 Live Events and Stream customers can access the Hive Insights’ incredibly powerful and intuitive reporting. The two solutions are fully integrated,” says Johan Ljungberg, the CEO, and co-founder of Hive Streaming, who has led the company from its inception as an R&D organization to its current market position as one of the leaders in enterprise video distribution and analytics.

Hive partners with Microsoft to help customers utilize their existing network investment to distribute high-quality video with the Hive software-based Enterprise Content Delivery Network (eCDN) solution. With Hive for Microsoft 365, clients can reach thousands of viewers with their message without impacting other business-critical traffic on the network. Hive for Microsoft 365 also includes the tools to simulate live events before running them and better understand the impact of streaming video across the client’s network.

Going up and running with Hive is very quick and efficient, especially considering there’s seamless integration between its solution and that of Microsoft’s. The onboarding starts with discovery questions that try to establish the clients’ challenges, needs, and goals. Next, an invisible and unobtrusive Hive Streaming agent is installed on end-user devices, acting as a transparent HTTP proxy between the streaming server and the video player. Hive can be deployed with SCCM or any other software configuration management platform. After deployment, the client’s IT administrator can then activate Hive for the Microsoft application they wish to enable without the need for any other integration. “From that point on, all broadcasts, webcasts, and VOD assets used through that application are automatically Hive-enabled,” mentions Ljungberg.

What differentiates Hive Streaming is the detailed analytics that the company offers, which no other platforms have. This helps clients understand network strengths and weaknesses, along with how engaged the employees are so executives can improve engagement and deliver over time. Hive Insights runs in the browser and provides detailed analytics on how the network is coping with video, QoS data on the network, and video performance by site, subnet, and the individual viewer. Hive Insights can be used in conjunction with the Hive eCDN or as a standalone reporting and analytics engine.

Consistently recognized as the enterprise video innovation leader, Hive Streaming is becoming the video delivery and analytics engine of choice for several enterprises.
